Chelsea Breaking News: Chelsea Signs Batshauayi From Olympic Marseille

In a big twist of events, Chelsea football Club has reportedly agreed a deal with French Club Olympic de Marseille for the transfer of  Belgian super striker Michy Batshuayi to the English giants. This comes just 24hours after it was reported that Crystal Palace had a bid for the player accepted by the ligue 1 outfit.

The deal to bring the Belgian star to Stamford bridge is said to cost in the region of  €40m (£33.2m) and Batshuayi is expected to sign a Five year deal at Stamford Bridge in what will become Antonio Conte's first signing as a chelsea manager. This will kick start what is going to be a busy summer at Stamford Bridge following last season's abysmal title defense that saw them finish 10th on the league pile. The deal is expected to be concluded within the next 24hours.

Chelsea signed Batshuayi after beating off  a lot of competition from top European clubs including Italian giants and former Conte's club, Juventus. Juve and West Ham have both previously made offers for the the striker, while Palace had a bid of  €38m (£31.6m) accepted by the Ligue 1 side on Monday with the player himself reluctant to join the eagles.

 Batshuayi however had his head turned by the prospect of  joining his compatriots , Hazard and Courtois at Chelsea.The 22-year-old is expected to be granted special dispensation to leave the Belgium squad, preparing for their Friday's quarter-final match against Wales in Lille, and undertake a medical a medical at Chelsea before signing a five-year contract with the English club.

 With the future of several Chelsea forwards still very uncertain, Conte has moved swiftly to secure Batshuayi signing. Diego Costa has continually been linked with a return to Atletico Madrid. Pedro Rodriguez recently openly expressed his desire to go back to Barcelona this summer claiming to have had a successful discussion with Barcelona president. Loic Remy has been linked with a move away from chelsea while Pato and Falcao has returned to their parent clubs.

Should Chelsea sign Batshuayi, the deal will become Marseille's most expensive deals as it will eclipse what Chelsea paid to bring Drogba to stamford Bridge in 2004 which has remained the clubs highest transfer deal till date. Chelsea however has a good history of making good buys from the French ligue 1 with Drogba, Malouda, Hazard, and Zouma making successful switches from ligue 1 to west London

Batshuayi while have a big shoe to fill as he will be expected to follow in the Footsteps of Didier Drogba. The youngster showed promise by scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 last season and He is leaving the Stade VĂ©lodrome having scored 33 goals in 78 appearances for the club.

Though in a rebuilding process, if chelsea sign Batshuayi, it may put an end to Lukaku's hopes of moving back to Stamford Bridge and it will remain to be seen if they will go ahead to sign Alvaro Morata  from Real Madrid. It is however expected for them to make a fresh bid for Roma midfield enforcer and Batshuayi's Belgium team mate Radja Nainggolan  having had their third bid reportedly rejected by the Seria A club.
