 Pregnancy Early Signs
All Pregnancy Early Signs And Symptoms women should note
Most women especially the soon to be first time mommies are sometimes faced with the challenge of knowing whether they are already pregnant or not. It is usually so because some of the signs and symptoms you get during  early pregnancy may not be different from the ones you have had in other times when you were not pregnant especially before your periods.

Its important to know that the signs and symptoms experienced during pregnancy are due to the increased level of circulating chemicals called pregnancy hormones in the body. One of them is progesterone and it is the cause of most early signs of pregnancy. This progesterone is very important  for the maintenance of the developing baby called an embryo at this stage especially in early pregnancy. Here we will be discussing some of the early signs that may tell you that you are pregnant.

Signs That You May be Pregnant

The following are the signs that you may have taken in:

 Missed Period

Missed period is one of the earliest things to show that you are pregnant especially if you have been having regular cycles. Its good to know that a missed period does not necessarily mean that you are pregnant as this may mean that you period is delayed. This is commoner in women who have irregular cycles. Though other signs listed here may come before you miss your period, a missed period remains the earliest sign in most women as the other signs are often ignored.

General Feeling of unwell

In most women the very first sign of pregnancy is the general feeling of being sick but without really holding on to a particular type of sickness. It's usually attribute to the increased progesterone level in pregnancy. This may occur as early as second week of pregnancy.

Headaches

Headaches is one of the  very first  symptoms  of pregnancy. Though more common in later first trimester or early second trimester, in some women it occurs before they miss their periods.

Spotting And Cramps

When you notice that you bleeding is starting a week or so earlier, it might be a sign that you are pregnant. The bleeding is usually due to the implantation of the embryo (baby)  to your womb. It is also called implantation bleeds . In this period some women feel abdominal cramps. It is due to  the  attachment of the baby to the lining of the womb

Tiredness and Dizziness

It's important to know that if you all of a sudden start feeling unduly tired and weak, it may be telling you that you will soon be a mum. You may start having need to have naps instead of your normal active self. You will find yourself sleeping excessively in early pregnancy. There is a general drop in your energy levels. This might be severe in some people  and may the earliest sign of pregnancy in most women.

Breast Pain

Within a  week or so of  conceiving, you may start having a tingly sensation in your breast. The breasts will be aching or even sore  particularly around the nipples. The area around the nipples will become darker and a little bigger.  You will also notice that your bra starts being uncomfortable. The breasts will become heavier. These occur because the pregnancy hormones increase blood supply to the breasts. This is more noticeable in the third week of pregnancy in most women.

Food Cravings or Food Aversion

In early pregnancy, you may notice that you are craving for a particular food more than the other. It may even be a completely strange food that has not been on your family menu. It's common also for you to begin to dislike some foods as well even the foods you were previously addicted to. Progesterone which is a pregnancy hormone tends to generally change your appetite. You may also develop some metallic or sour taste as an early pregnancy sign.

Nausea and vomiting

This is also called morning sickness. You start feeling queasy around the third or fourth week of pregnancy though this is commoner around 6weeks. You may only feel like vomiting but may not throw up at the end but upto 50% of women will throw up. Please not that this can occur at any time of the day as against the notion name "morning sickness".  It is caused by pregnancy hormones and will start reducing around the end of first trimester. So it's mostly a first trimester symptom of pregnancy. Usually you should take enough water and chew gums. In very severe cases, you may need to see your doctor.

Increased Sensitivity To Smells

This is another weird or strange symptoms of pregnancy. You sense of smell is greatly increased. You will notice that all the things around you now has an odour even things that originally had none.  Your partner may even start smelling strange to you. This might even increase your chances of nausea and vomiting as the smell will make you queasy.

Other pregnancy symptoms

Apart from the above listed pregnancy symptoms, other possible things one may notice in early pregnancy will include; mood swings, increased vaginal secretions, bloating, excessive saliva in your mouth, thrush, increase in the number of times you urinate within the day, spot free face or acne filled face and so on.

PLEASE NOTE : It should be noted that, you must not have all the above symptoms before you know you are pregnant. It is advised that if you have any of the signs of early pregnancy listed above , you will need to see your doctor or or midwife for a pregnancy test.

Blood pregnancy test is better than the urine pregnancy test. The urine test can give wrong results. An ultrasound scanning by your doctor will be the best way to confirm your pregnancy, the sex of the baby and the date of the pregnancy as well as the date that your baby will be delivered.
